Michael Schmid is an accomplished soccer coach and player with a proven track record of developing elite talent and achieving championship success. As the head coach of Manta 2009 Girls Pink, he led the team to the 2024 National Semifinals, Regional Championship, State Cup Championship, and six tournament titles. He followed that up with his first year with the Manta 2015 Boys Pink where the team achieved 2025 State Cup Finalists and NPL Premier League Finalists, and 2 tournament titles. His coaching success extends to high school soccer, where he guided Oberlin High School Boys to a District Finalist finish in 2014.
Schmid’s personal playing career is equally impressive. An USA Deaf Soccer legend, he is the second all-time leading scorer and the program’s only Golden Boot winner (2019 Deaf Pan America). He has competed in five World Tournaments and served as Co-Captain and Top Scorer for the U.S. in the 2024 Deaf Pan American Games, helping lead the team to its first-ever international championship.
He completed his first season in MASL 3 with an outstanding 11 goals and 6 assists in six games, Schmid is also a standout for Ohio City SC (Current Ohio City Women’s Coach) and a multiple-time Golden Boot winner in regional leagues. In addition, he serves as a director/secretary on the United States of America Deaf Soccer Association (USADSA) supporting deaf/hard of hearing players across USA. His journey from a small-town player to an international competitor embodies resilience, passion, and the relentless pursuit of excellence.
